December 2016. SPANGLERS fans were entertained at the Christmas party by Lass Vegas. To quote a contributor on the website 'she looks and sings like an angel and he plays guitar like a devil'. I think that sums it up pretty well. A wide ranging repertoire including the Eagles, Take It Easy was well recieved and the room was rocking all night long. A fantastic end to the Year and we hope to see you all again on 14th January.
November 2016. The second SPANGLERS night this month but the place was packed, obviously you can't get too much of a good thing. And this month's good thing was Henry Smith and his fantastic band. Henry's vocal skills and the superb backing of his band demonstrate why they are one of the UK's top Country acts. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for over £500 to the Peterborough Association for the Blind which had been raised at the previous SPANGLERS evening.
November 2016. Tonight was completely sold out for the first visit of The Haley Sisters and Brian to SPANGLERS. It was also Halloween and lots of our visitors took the opportunity to dress up and celebrate. The harmonies of Jo-Ann and Becky are outstanding on all of their wide repertoire of songs and with the finger picking and bottle neck accompaniment of Brian on the guitar, their 3 sets were some of the most accomplished of any of the acts we have seen at SPANGLERS. This was also our annual charity night when all profits went to the Peterborough Association for the Blind.
October 2016. STUBBY is an old favourite at SPANGLERS, in fact this is his third visit and not without good reason. Stubby knows how to please a crowd with some great songs and a good line of patter, I'm sure he'll be back again.
September 24th 2016. Back at SPANGLERS for a second time, CRYSTAL CLEAR came all the way from Eastbourne with a posse of supporters. They quickly made a hit with the local crowd with their warm and friendly personalities and their great harmonies.
September 10th 2016. Dave Bryan is a regular favourite at SPANGLERS and although I was on holiday and have no photos, I do know that Dave put on a great show.
August 2016. Making their 2nd. visit to Spanglers, Bonnie Diamond and Coe didn't disappoint anyone. Mostly laidback Country but with a dash of modern stuff like one of my favourites Mark Knopflers, Cannibals. Good to see a few new faces to compensate for those on holiday.
July 2016. Warren De Witt, a big hat, a big coat and a big personality. Warren has a voce that truly sounds as if he was born and raised in the 'Deep South', a real Southern Country Gentleman. With a wide repertoire of songs from traditional Hank Williams to a more modern Nashville sound Warren kept us all entertained throughout the night.
June 2016. Spanglers 4th, yes 4th., birthday and still growing stronger and more successful thanks to the support of all you lovely people. The birthday party atmosphere was provided by McGill whose repertoire guaranteed a jumpin' dancefloor with traditional country music and some other more pop numbers. What with the music and doughnuts for fuel we all had a great night.
May 2016. Sorry for the delay but here finally are the pictures from Lainey West's gig. Thanks to Derek Freeman for supplying them.
April 2016. Returning after a gap of 2 years McKenzie treated us us to 3 very entertaining sets of country music. On one of their frequent visits to the UK from their home in France, Kenny and Zoe were warmly received by the SPANGLERS faithful.
March 2016. Zenne's website describes her as "a Country Gal with a gutsy voice". Dancing Queen on this website describes her voice as like gargling with rice krispies. Zenne is obviously an accomplished guitarist with a feel for traditional laid back country music and this proved to be a big hit with the SPANGLERS crowd. For something a little different from Zenne check out thi great song Girl Crush by clicking here and really listen to the lyrics
February 2016. A day early maybe but this was Valentines night at Spanglers with the room decked out in hearts and red roses and everyone in a romantic mood. But the lady who stole everyones's heart was KayD. Her personality and lovely voice enamoured everyone so much that at the end of the evening she was showered with red roses. Another great night , they just keep on coming!
January 2016. Well if we thought that 2015 couldn't be beaten, what a surprise we got with our first gig of 2016!!!. Entertained by the Country Duo Jonny and Lynette the place buzzed, with the songs of Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynne, Ray Price and many more. The music was enhanced by the comic exchanges between the pair, which had the audience in stitches.
Once again we had several new members, with one pair Allan and Linda, from Northampton.
